I had a project at work recently that led me to gathering and compiling a pretty extensive list of all the independently-owned coffee shops and cafes across the state. I figured this would be the perfect place to share that list with the masses. My philosophy is to always choose local over chain -- to support our neighbors over billionaires and I definitely don't support wage theft and Union busting (Boycott Starbucks). As I sit here in a cafe drinking a salted tahini honeycomb latte (are you fucking kidding), sitting in the window seat, people watching on Third Ave, I can’t help but reflect on the joy and adventure this city has brought me. The amazing drinks and food, the connections with strangers, the way travel encourages you to try new things, how it’s fostered Ben and I’s friendship.
